About ME
I am a Christian Libertarian and believe that the primary purpose of government is to protect people from evil doers and not to enact immoral law. Although tempting as it may be to legislate morality, the example of Jesus and the adulterer gives us instruction in how we should encourage and instruct people to follow Christ. We cannot punish and take judgment on actions that do not harm others but have a duty to protect individuals from those that would infringe on our God given rights. In fact the more power we give to the elite in government, the more corrupt the institution becomes in performing it's primary duty.
I reject the notion that robbing from the wealthy and giving to the poor is a moral good and believe that ultimately we are all worse off when this happens because it gives incentives and capabilities to the most corrupt parts of our society, the power to kill and steal under the guise of protecting the weak. Many forget that in the fable "Robinhood", the corrupt government official was stealing from the common man to make himself rich, a story unfortunately resembling today,
I spent the first 18 years of my life growing up in Grand Rapids in the Creston District near the intersection of College and Leonard attending Aberdeen, Zoo, and City Middle/High School. After graduating high school I attended Michigan State University for a year and transferred to the University of Michigan where I graduated with a bachelors in Computer Science and Economics. After graduating, I have worked as a software engineer for 8 years. I am a husband and father of a 5 year old, 3 year old, and a newborn. As a candidate that has been raised and continues to live in West Michigan, I seek to do what is right and best for my community.
